Clairitea works when people share what really happened to them, fairly and specifically, and look out for each other. These guidelines explain how to do that and what happens when something goes wrong. They add detail to the House Rules, which are part of our Terms of Service. If the two ever differ, the House Rules apply.

1Be fair and specific

  • Describe what happened. "He cancelled three dates on the day and then stopped replying" is useful. "He's trash" is not, and an insult with nothing else may be held.
  • Stick to your experience. Say how you know him, using the relationship and "where we met" options, and describe what you saw and lived. Leave out what friends told you.
  • Separate facts from opinions. "He told me he was single; I later met his wife" is a fact you can stand behind. "I think he's a liar" is an opinion. Make opinions clear.
  • Choose flags and reasons honestly. A red or green flag and its reasons should match what you describe. Green flags matter too.
  • Ratings are optional. Skip any you have no view on. A skipped rating is not counted.
  • Serious accusations wait for a person. If a post says someone committed a crime, has a sexually transmitted infection, or did specific sexual acts, it is held until a person on our team reviews it against the House Rules. We do not edit your words. If your post is not approved, we tell you.
  • Protect yourself. Details only you would know can identify you to him. You are anonymous to other users, but not to Clairitea or a court. See Section 4 of the Terms of Service.

2Asking "Anyone know him?"

Questions ask the community whether anyone has experience with someone. Ask a genuine question. Do not use a question to hint at an accusation ("Anyone know if he's still on probation?"). Answers follow the same rules as posts: first-hand, true, no private information.

3Photos

  • Use a photo that shows the person the page is about, so others can tell whether it is the same person.
  • Crop out other people, especially children, and anyone who is not part of what happened.
  • Never upload nudity or sexual images, even if cropped or blurred.
  • We remove location and other metadata from every photo before it is stored.

4Receipts (screenshots)

Receipts are screenshots that back up what you describe, such as messages he sent you.

  • Share only conversations you were part of.
  • Before you post, use the redaction tool to cover phone numbers, email addresses, other people's names, addresses, account names and anything else private. Redaction happens on your phone.
  • Other users only ever see the redacted version.
  • Unless you have turned on AI checks, a person on our team looks at each receipt before it appears. With AI checks on, text in the image is also checked automatically for private information we missed, and anything uncertain goes to a person.

5Comments and replies

Reply to what the post says. Share your own experience if you have one ("Same thing happened to me in March"). Do not pile on, speculate about someone's private life, or tell others to contact him.

6Reporting

Every post, comment, photo and screenshot can be reported. Choose the reason that fits best:

ReasonUse it whenWhat happens
Wrong personThe post is about someone else with the same name or photoReviewed. Three separate reports hide the post while we review it
This is meYou are the person the post is aboutReviewed
This isn't trueYou believe the post is falseReviewed
HarassmentThe post or comment is meant to harass or intimidateReviewed
Someone under 18It is about, or shows, a minorHidden right away and reviewed first
Private infoIt shares a phone number, address, plate or other private detailHidden right away and reviewed
ThreatIt threatens anyoneHidden right away and reviewed first
Sexual contentIt contains sexual contentReviewed
Intimate image of meIt shows an intimate image of you without your consentHidden right away; removed within 48 hours of a valid request
SpamIt is spam or repeated postingReviewed
OtherAnything else that breaks the House RulesReviewed

We aim to review reports within 24 hours. The person you report is never told who reported them. We tell you the outcome in your activity. Reporting something you know is not a violation, or reporting to harass someone, breaks the House Rules.

7Blocking

Block anyone whose posts or comments you do not want to see. Blocking hides their activity from you and yours from them. The person you block is not told. You can see and undo blocks in Settings, Privacy, Blocked people.

8If a post is about you

You do not need an account to ask us to review a post about you. Use the "A post about you?" form on clairitea.com or email safety@clairitea.com. The Safety Center explains the process, and what we do and do not remove.

9When we get it wrong

Our automated checks and our reviewers make mistakes. If your post is held, blocked or removed, or your account is suspended, and you think we got it wrong, appeal in the app. A person reviews every appeal.
